Since the beginning, we have used Miniature Horses for the benefit of others as well as ourselves.  People have been telling us how happy it makes their loved ones to come visit the Miniature Horses.   Those who we take the Miniature Horses to are so happy to see us arrive.  Even their children, parents or siblings that are visiting their loved ones in the convalescent homes and assisted living homes benefit from our visits just as those do who visit our ranch.   Some visitors arrive at our ranch by the busload.

Shadow Makers has had and are scheduling workshops to introduce proven methods and alternative approaches to receptive counseling.  We want to introduce “a new experience and alternative therapy” to break the barrier between them and their client, a loved one they are caring for, or are responsible for, or themselves!  Those who are in need of therapy have past or present experiences that may keep successful therapy at arms length.  We are offering a different approach using animals to open their minds and let their therapy begin!

We teach the person how to care for the Miniature Horses, what the Miniatures Horses are capable of, and learn to trust the animals.  The animals do not tell secrets!  Before you know it, they have taken their minds off their own problems and they are willing to receive help from their professional counselors or care givers. 

The mission of Shadow Makers is to promote Minature Horses and other animals to help people improve their mental and physical health, independence, and self-esteem.  Our goal is to educate coiunselors, teachers, parents, children, and adults by teaching them how to use minature horses and other animals as an alternative method of therapy for mental disease, depression, re-lapse therapy, etc.  This service is to include the families of clients asnd their loved ones to help survive the obstacles of mental illnesses and/or disease. 

Shadow Makers also breeds and raises miniature horses and offers horses for sale.  Our horses are bred for temperament and ability to be trained for use as service animals as well as the show ring. Please visit our horses for sale page if you are interested in owning miniature horses to be used as service animals or for the show ring.
